Kingdom of Heaven 1190AD

Oh dear, last post for this month. Well, having enjoyed our 'Battle of Britain' campaign, we've decided to have another one. This time the 'Kingdom of Heaven' campaign, set around 1190AD in the Holy Land. VERY heavy on the Horsemen, so to cater for lots of movement, we'll play on a 36" by 24" board. Plus each Army Leader has their own characteristic again! Of course it's all fictional & we've stretched a few of the 'historic' dates.

Here's our Ayyubid Egyptions lead by Salah Al'Din. A nice & colourful army, very heavy on the Cavalry. They have performed well in one of our previous battles ...

BoB6 Feudal English vs Scots Common

Finally, after many attempts we've finished the last in our Battle of Britain series. The mighty Scots Common have rampaged through the British Isles & are on the verge of being crowned Top Dogs. All that is left was the Feudal English, could the Scots be stopped?

Yours truly played the Scots & Amy the Feudal English. A 30" board with a river & road, two small woods & a village. Being the attacker I rolled for table side, resulting in both of us getting a road, rapid deployment ahead!

Amy placed some of her Knights on the road & announced they would be 'riding fast across the river to stomp the Scottish King'. Oh joy. The rest would be placed out in a line, the Hordes would be used to take the wood & advance on the flank. The bulk of the Scots army, Pike & a Bow in front, would advance up the road to counter the English Knights. Warband out on the flanks, while 'the Bruce' would take a central position (erm... hiding from the English Knights, as Amy put it).
The Battlefield & initial set up.
---------------------------------------------------------
Scots Pike & Bow march past the village.

---------------------------------------------------------
The Feudal English advance.
---------------------------------------------------------
Would the English attack straight away?
---------------------------------------------------------
English line of advance, some Spears & Bows would follow the Knights along the road.
---------------------------------------------------------
The 'Bruce' urges on his men.
---------------------------------------------------------
English Shrine camp, a resin model picked up at a show, painted by us.

---------------------------------------------------------
The Scots deploy & the English Knights go for the flank.
---------------------------------------------------------
Amy sends the English Cavalry on a deep strike mission...
---------------------------------------------------------
More pips needed in the centre, Amys Knights look awesome.
---------------------------------------------------------
The English King crosses the river.
---------------------------------------------------------
Ooops it's nearly curtains for the English cavalry as they recoil from the Pike.

---------------------------------------------------------
The main battle is about to begin.
---------------------------------------------------------
Mmmm... I need to get the 'Bruce' in position to help out.
---------------------------------------------------------
Positions at this point.
---------------------------------------------------------
Pike, Spear & Bow clash on the road.
---------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------
Oh.. I can see were those Knights are going...
---------------------------------------------------------
Some recoils in the centre.
---------------------------------------------------------
Amy's turn, in go the Knights!!!
---------------------------------------------------------
Nice overview...
---------------------------------------------------------
......before the destruction of two Scots Pikes.

---------------------------------------------------------
One back for the Scots as the Pike take out a bow.
---------------------------------------------------------
Oh dear!!! Amy's prediction is looking good. English Knights on a 'King Hunt'.
---------------------------------------------------------
I can see how this ones going, everyone pile in!!!
---------------------------------------------------------
English Horde versus Scots Warband!
---------------------------------------------------------
'Gentlemen... Todays Fox, the King of Scotland'
---------------------------------------------------------
Come on, I just need a lucky break!
---------------------------------------------------------
NO! I go for the English King, but the Dice gods abandon me....
---------------------------------------------------------
The 'Bruce' puts up a good show...
---------------------------------------------------------
But alas, he's finally run over by the frenzied 'Knights of Amy'
---------------------------------------------------------
Final Positions, Victory to the English 5-1.
---------------------------------------------------------

Ha Ha, Amy's singing Victory chants & I'm packing away the kit. Luckily it's all away in time for the Beebs new show MERLIN(which is turning out to be rather good as well).

The FINAL Battle of Britain Scores :
Scots Common = 19
Welsh = 19
Feudal English = 13

Highland & Isles = 11

So it's a shared prize for the Welsh & Scots!
